Our sensor technologies

Proxisense develops sensor technologies for real-time monitoring of liquids, processes and equipment. Our sensing platforms can be configured for different applications, from small-volume and automated measurements to in-line process monitoring and demanding aerospace environments.

LiquiSensor™

Flexible sensing for different process requirements

LiquiSensor™ provides real-time monitoring of liquid composition and condition using our thermal sensing technology. The sensor can be configured in different geometries to suit the requirements of the application and installation.

6.35 mm LQ
Our standard LiquiSensor configuration, providing a compact format for general liquid monitoring applications.

12 mm LQ
Developed for applications where a larger diameter is better suited to existing process fittings and installation requirements.

6.35 mm XL LQ
An extended-length configuration developed for applications requiring greater insertion depth, including measurements within bioreactor vessels.

Real-time liquid monitoring for small-volume and automated workflows

LiquiSensor™ Mini has been developed specifically for applications where sample volume is limited and minimising sample disturbance is important. Its reduced sensing area is designed to avoid overwhelming small samples while still providing useful composition discrimination.

The Mini has demonstrated measurement of liquid composition and concentration in samples as small as 200 µL, with successful testing in both protein and solvent systems.

An automated 96-well workflow has also been demonstrated, integrating sequential sample handling, measurement, rinsing and drying. The platform is being developed further for automated multi-sample measurement and application-specific validation.

We’re looking for validation partners to explore applications including bioprocessing, TFF and flow-based measurements.

Inline LiquiSensor™ & Flow Configurations

LiquiSensor™ can be configured for measurements in flowing liquids, providing the same real-time composition and condition monitoring as our standard sensors while measuring directly within a controlled flow path.

Our flow configurations and custom manifolds are designed around the requirements of different processes, supporting applications from in-line monitoring and high-flow sampling to process integration.

The inline configuration has been developed and validated in collaboration with a top-10 global pharmaceutical company, with testing demonstrated across flow rates of 2–20 g/min.

In-line monitoring – Designed for continuous measurement within a process flow, providing real-time information on changes in liquid composition and process behaviour.

High-flow sampling – Manifold configurations for applications where representative samples need to be measured at higher flow rates, while maintaining controlled conditions around the sensor.

Process integration – Custom flow arrangements designed to integrate LiquiSensor™ into existing process equipment and sampling workflows.

Aerospace & condition monitoring

Thermal sensing for demanding environments

Proxisense has developed specialised thermal sensors for monitoring the condition of aerospace and engineering systems, from detecting contamination in high-temperature fluids to identifying individual debris particles in engine oil.

High-temperature condition monitoring

A high-temperature adaptation of the LiquiSensor™ platform, designed for demanding fluid-monitoring applications.

The sensor has been tested at temperatures up to 200 °C, pressures up to 10 bar and flow rates up to 1.5 m/s, with testing demonstrating detection of water, oil and fuel contamination, as well as changes associated with fluid degradation.

Engine debris monitoring

Detecting individual particles in lubricating oil

Our debris sensor is a specialised thermal sensing platform for detecting individual particles within engine oil. It detects changes in thermal response as particles pass the sensing surface and has been demonstrated with metallic and non-metallic materials, including high-thermal-product materials such as silicon nitride.

The technology has been developed for aerospace engine monitoring and has progressed to commercial deployment.

SolventSense

Turn LiquiSensor™ measurements into process insight

SolventSense is a handheld interface for wireless LiquiSensor™ measurements, providing rapid access to solvent concentration predictions and measurement trends. The device displays the measured temperature response, bias temperature and confidence level alongside the predicted concentration, allowing measurements to be tracked over time.

SolventSense is designed for quick measurements and quality checks, with models developed for the specific liquids and applications being monitored. The platform is currently being developed and evaluated for application-specific use.

Wireless operation — Connect to LiquiSensor™ without cables for flexible measurements.

Real-time results — View temperature response, concentration prediction and measurement confidence.

Track process changes — Monitor concentration trends over multiple measurements.
