Once turbines have been handed over for service the system provides a rich data set to help owners and operators mitigate risk. This is enabled through real-time monitoring of vibration, clearance and blade deflection. Owners and operators can then avoid unplanned outages and catastrophic failures through the long-term monitoring of performance degradation progressing vibration issues or general trends that could lead to failure.
Advanced sensors with proven reliability
The PrOXisense system utilises an eddy current sensor with proven reliability. Over 200 of these systems are currently in service on industrial turbines worldwide. The eddy current sensor is driven by signal trigger electronics that have undergone significant enhancements through extensive field trials. They can provide very accurate blade tip timing data in both analogue and digital forms and in real-time. The signal feeds directly into a digital signal processor that is capable of processing 12 signals simultaneously including signals from other types of sensors. The DSP can be configured to operate with a wide range of interface mediums: from a dedicated micro PC, to interfacing with specific turbine control systems and software. It can also be accessed via an internet connection from anywhere in the world
